Guidance Is Not Control

I had a training where I visited a situation between a mother and her son, who's a trans woman.

The situation ended horribly and to the point where the mother rather hid the individual away and even attempted to kill her.

As soon as the training ended, the line from Katy Perry's song, Rise, played, "I won't just survive. You will see me thrive."

I'm not sure who needs to hear this but may this song bring you the strength to overcome today's struggles. You are enough. You are bigger than all obstacles in your way. You are a survivor. Be proud of yourself for all that you are and for standing your ground.

I am extremely proud of you.

Parents, thank you for being real and for everything you do for your children. You should be proud of yourself for all that you are and for all that you do for yourself and your family but in times of disagreement with your children take a break, put your ego aside and take a long look at your child. Remember they are their own person. Guide them and watch them bloom.

Guidance is not control.

It doesn't take a lot and shouldn't take a lot to be a good person but given human nature it does. So, remember to be kind. No life should be hurt or lost just to prove a point.
