Follower

Growing up as a follower if I didn't follow my parents I would follow my peers or someone else because I'd wanted to be liked.

I remember my first day of 7th grade. We did an activity and they asked us to line up by what we liked and then by our birth month.

At the end of the activity, they then said something along the lines, "You can change what you like and don't like to fit in but you can never change your birthday..." and it stuck with me since.

At the time I didn't think much besides the fact that I really like the message. Years later I'd realized that was a message from the universe for me.

We can't outrun ourselves because we're one, original and unique. What we can do is embrace who we are and commit to working on ourselves to become better than the person we were yesterday. The longer we strive to ignore ourselves, the more lost we become.
